An Already Under Resourced Region Is Facing an Even Steeper Road Back
A powerful earthquake struck Chocó, Colombia, causing significant damage to homes and displacing families across the region. Chocó is one of the most densely Afro Colombian areas in the country, home to communities with deep cultural and historical roots along Colombia’s Pacific coast.
Many of these communities were already under resourced before the earthquake, which makes long term, community led recovery essential, not optional.
