Expat Community Bowling Night
Wednesday December 9, 7pm. No presentation, no agenda, no name tags. Just a few lanes, a lot of people who moved here, and the conversations that happen when nobody is performing.

Registration is free and tells us how many lanes to hold. You pay for your own lane time, shoes and drinks.
What Is the Expat Bowling Night?
Expat Community Bowling Night is a casual social event hosted by MOOD Travel Abroad on Wednesday December 9, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Bowland in Santa Fe Mall, El Poblado, Medellin, Colombia.
It brings together Americans and other foreigners living in or considering a move to Medellin for an informal evening with no programming.
Registration is free and attendees pay their own way for lane time, shoes and drinks.
Anyone in Medellin is welcome, whether or not they are attending other relocation week events.
The Most Useful Thing You Do All Week Might Be This
The seminar gives you the sequence. The apartment tours give you the streets.
This gives you the thing that actually determines whether you last here.
People who move abroad and go home early almost never go home because it was hard. They go home because it was quiet. Because they never built anything, and a beautiful city with nobody in it is just a nicer version of being lonely.
So we bowl. Badly, mostly.
And somewhere in the third frame you end up in a conversation with somebody who arrived two years ago and has answers to the questions you have not thought to ask yet.
That is the whole event. There is no talk.
What to Expect
- Lanes Held for the Group
We reserve based on how many people register, which is the only reason registration exists.
- People at Every Stage
Long-term residents, people who arrived last month, and people who are still deciding.
- No Programming
No talk, no pitch, no going round the room introducing yourself. Come and go as you like.
- Zero Bowling Ability Required
Genuinely. The standard is not high and that is part of the fun.

- Is it free?
Yes. Sign up is free and there is no cost to participate.
- What organization are we volunteering with?
We are finalizing our partner and will announce them, along with the schedule and full itinerary, closer to the date.

- What will we actually be doing?
That depends on the partner organization and what they need most that week, which is why we announce it closer to the date rather than guessing now.
We will send full details in advance so nobody arrives unsure.
- Do I need to speak Spanish?
No. There will be Spanish speakers with the group throughout and no volunteer role will require you to be fluent.
- Can I bring my children?
Possibly, and it depends entirely on the project.
We will state clearly whether it is suitable for children when we announce the partner organization.
- Is the farewell lunch included?
- Can I come if I did not attend the rest of the week?
Yes. Anyone in Medellin is welcome, including people who already live here.
- How long does it run?
Plan for the morning through lunch.
- What should I wear?
We will send specifics with the project details.
Assume clothes you do not mind getting dirty and closed shoes.
- Why is this part of a relocation week?
Because how you arrive somewhere matters.
Every city with a growing foreign population deals with rising rents and changing neighborhoods, and deciding early what kind of presence you want to be is part of moving somewhere well rather than just moving somewhere.
