The Local Market and Fruit Tour is a guided afternoon tour run by MOOD Travel Abroad on Tuesday December 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Medellin, Colombia. Guests visit a local market with an English speaking guide, sample Colombian fruits that are largely unavailable outside the country, and learn how everyday food shopping works for residents. Round trip transportation, the guided tour, fruit sampling and lunch are all included, and pickup is coordinated individually with each guest after registration.

- What is included?
Round trip transportation, an English speaking guide, the guided market tour, fruit sampling and lunch. Once you have booked, the only thing you might spend money on is anything you decide to buy at the market yourself.
- How does pickup work?
We coordinate it with you individually. After you register, a member of our team contacts you to confirm your pickup time and location, so you do not need to work out how to get anywhere.
- Do I need to speak Spanish?
No. Your guide speaks English and handles everything. That said, this is a good afternoon for picking up the twenty words that actually matter in a market.
- What fruits will we try?
It depends on the season, which is part of the point. Expect things like lulo, guanabana, granadilla, mamoncillo and zapote, most of which never leave Colombia because they do not travel well. Your guide will tell you what each one is and what people do with it.
- Is lunch included?
Yes. Lunch is part of the tour and it is eaten where locals eat.
- Can I bring my kids?
Yes. Markets are excellent with children and the fruit sampling tends to be the highlight of their week. Reply to your confirmation email with ages so we can plan transport properly.
- What should I bring?
Comfortable shoes, a hat if you burn, and some cash in pesos if you want to buy anything. Markets run on cash and small notes are much easier than large ones.
- How long does it run?
3 hours estimated. Plan for the afternoon.
- Can I do this and the seminar on the same day?
Yes, and most people do. The seminar is at 9:30 AM in Laureles and this starts at 2:00 PM, so there is time in between.
- What if it rains?
It rains most afternoons in Medellin and life carries on. The market is covered. Bring a light jacket.
