What Is the Medellin Neighborhood & Apartment Tours?

The MOOD Travel Abroad Neighborhood and Apartment Tours are three guided morning tours in Medellin, Colombia, held December 9, 10 and 11, 2026, each starting at 9:30 AM.

Wednesday covers Envigado and Sabaneta, Thursday covers Laureles, and Friday covers El Poblado.

Each day includes pickup, a guided walk through the neighborhood covering the practical things residents need to know, lunch, and viewings of one to three real apartments.

Guests can book a single day or all three. The tours are designed for people evaluating where to live in Medellin rather than for sightseeing.

You Cannot Choose a Neighborhood From a Blog Post

Everybody researching Medellin ends up with the same three names and no way to tell them apart.

Poblado is expensive. Laureles is where the locals are. Envigado is quieter. That is the entire internet on this subject and it is close to useless.

What it does not tell you is how the hills feel when you are carrying groceries. Whether the street is loud at eleven at night. How far the nearest decent supermarket really is. Whether you would be the only foreigner on the block, and whether that appeals to you or not.

Three mornings, three neighborhoods, on foot, with somebody answering questions. Then inside actual apartments so you can see what your money buys in each one.

Most people arrive thinking they know which one they want. A meaningful number leave having changed their mind, which is the entire point of doing this before you sign a lease rather than after.

What Each Morning Includes
Pickup

Arranged with you directly. A team member contacts you to confirm time and location.

A Guided Neighborhood Tour

Not a sightseeing walk.

The practical things a resident needs to know: where you would shop, how you would get around, what the street is like at different hours, what the area is genuinely good and bad at.

One to Three Apartment Viewings

Inside real apartments, so you can see what the listings actually mean and what your budget buys in that specific neighborhood.

Lunch

Included, in the neighborhood, at a place you could go back to.

Who These Mornings Are For

Anyone who will need somewhere to live here and has no idea where.

People who have narrowed it to two neighborhoods from the internet and want to test that.

Couples who disagree about which area they want. Walking both usually settles it.

Families who need to see what school runs, parks and quiet streets actually look like.

People who already decided on El Poblado. Do Wednesday and Thursday first, then decide.

Three Mornings Now, or One Wrong Lease Later

December 9, 10 and 11. Pickup at your door.

Book one day. Book all three. The comparison is the point.

Your best life is waiting. Let’s go get it.

 Questions About This Event

  • Can I book just one day?

Yes. Each day is sold separately.

That said, the value is in the comparison, so most people book at least two and there is a bundle price for all three.

  • What is the difference between the three neighborhoods?

Envigado and Sabaneta are quieter, more residential and more Colombian.

Laureles is flat, walkable and has a strong local rhythm, and it is where the largest share of our members end up.

El Poblado is the most international with the most amenities and the highest prices.

They produce genuinely different daily lives, which is why we tour all three.

  • Will I see real apartments?

Yes. One to three per day, inside, not photographs.

Seeing what a listing price actually gets you in that specific neighborhood is the part people say changed their thinking.

  • Can I rent one of the apartments I see?

The viewings are for orientation rather than a sales process, so there is no pressure.

If something does fit, tell us and we will connect you with a vetted real estate advisor from the MOOD Expert network who works in that area.

  • How does pickup work?

We arrange it with you individually.

After booking, a team member contacts you to confirm your pickup time and location for each day you have booked.

  • Is lunch included?

Yes, every day, in the neighborhood you are touring.

  • How much walking is involved?

A fair amount, and that is deliberate.

Envigado has hills. Laureles is flat. Poblado varies a lot street by street.

Wear proper shoes, and tell us in advance if you have mobility considerations so we can adapt the route.

  • What if I want to see a neighborhood that is not on the list?

These three cover where the overwhelming majority of new arrivals land.

If you are considering somewhere else, book a consultation and we will talk through whether it fits what you are looking for.

  • Will you tell me what rent costs?

You will see real apartments with real asking prices, which is far more useful than a number in an article.

What anything costs depends enormously on the building, the street and the season, and rates published anywhere online age badly.

  • Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. Your guide handles everything in English, including at the apartment viewings.

  • Can I bring my partner or family?

Yes. Register each person so we can plan transport and lunch correctly.

  • What if it rains?

It rains most afternoons, not usually mornings.

We run regardless. Bring a light jacket.
