Tuesday December 8, 9:30am in Laureles. Two hours, four subjects, and fifteen seats. Small enough that you will actually get your question answered rather than watching somebody else get theirs answered.
Includes the seminar, one coffee and one pastry. Fifteen seats, and when they are gone the room is full.
The Medellin Relocation Seminar is a two hour in-person seminar hosted by MOOD Travel Abroad on Tuesday December 8, 2026 at 9:30 AM at Machiavelli Alta Pasteleria in the Laureles neighborhood of Medellin, Colombia.
It covers four subjects: what you need to do before you move abroad, renting and property investment in Colombia, the best neighborhoods for expats, and the immigration visa and healthcare options available to people wanting to live in Colombia.
Sessions are led by a panel of local specialists whose names are announced closer to the date.
Capacity is limited to 15 people and attendance includes one coffee and one pastry.
We could fill a hotel ballroom. We are not going to.
A room of two hundred people is a broadcast. You sit there, somebody presents, and the three questions that actually matter to your situation never get asked because you are not going to raise your hand in front of two hundred strangers.
Fifteen people is a conversation. Everybody in the room gets heard, the speakers can answer you specifically, and you leave knowing the other fourteen people, who are all working through the same thing you are.
That is the trade. Fewer seats, considerably more value per seat.
It also means when the fifteen are gone, they are gone.
The sequence. Which decisions come first, which ones are reversible, and what you can sort from your laptop versus what genuinely requires you to be standing here.
Most people arrive having done a year of research and still feeling stuck, and it is almost never an information problem. It is an order problem.
How renting works here as a foreigner, what a lease actually commits you to, and what changes when you move from renting to buying.
Ownership rules, financing and the practicalities of investing in Colombian property as someone who is not Colombian.
Laureles, El Poblado, Envigado, Sabaneta and the ones nobody writes about.
Not which is best in the abstract, but which suits which kind of life, and what you are actually trading when you pick one.
The routes available to people wanting to live in Colombia and how they differ, plus how healthcare works here and what your options look like depending on your status.
Presented as how the system works, because your individual answer depends on your specifics and we will tell you honestly when it needs a licensed professional.
At one of the better pastry shops in Laureles, because nobody should learn anything in a hotel conference room.
People who have been researching this for a while and cannot work out what to do first.
People with a date in mind who want to know whether their plan holds up.
Anyone weighing renting against buying here, in either direction.
People trying to choose between neighborhoods and getting nowhere from the internet.
Couples where one person is much further along than the other. This is a good room for that conversation.
People already in Colombia on a look-and-see trip who want to turn a visit into a plan.
This is an adult seminar. The content is aimed at the people making the decision, and there is no programming for children.
Tuesday, December 8. 9:30am. Laureles. Fifteen seats.
Bring the question you have been carrying around.
Your best life is waiting. Let’s go get it.
Fifteen, including you. We cap it deliberately so everybody in the room gets their question answered rather than watching somebody else get theirs answered.
When the fifteen seats are taken, registration closes.
Approximately two hours, starting at 9:30 AM. Doors open at 9:15 AM.
Leave your lunch open, because the conversations afterwards are frequently the most useful part of the morning.
Four subjects.
What you need to do before you move abroad, meaning the sequence and what order to work in.
Renting and property investment in Colombia.
The best neighborhoods for expats and what you trade by choosing each one.
And the immigration visa and healthcare options available to people wanting to live in Colombia.
A panel of local specialists alongside RJ.
We are confirming the lineup and will announce names closer to the date. Everyone registered will be emailed the speaker list as soon as it is locked.
Your seat, one coffee and one pastry.
That is everything, and there is nothing to pay at the door.
The seminar explains the routes available and what determines which one applies to you.
It will not give you a ruling on your personal case, and you should be careful of anyone who does that in a room.
Which route fits depends on how your income arrives, who is coming with you and your timeline, and requirements change.
For your specific situation, book a consultation and we will work through it properly and point you to a licensed immigration attorney where you need one.
This is one of the four subjects and the session covers how ownership, financing and the transaction process work for someone who is not Colombian.
What makes sense for you depends on your timeline and your situation, and the honest answer for a lot of people is to rent first. We will say so if that is the case.
It will tell you what each one is actually like to live in and what you are trading by choosing it, which is more useful than a ranking.
If you want to walk them and see inside real apartments, our Neighborhood and Apartment Tours run the following three mornings.
No. We run tours and consultations and we will tell you they exist if you ask.
The seminar is the seminar. If you leave having decided Colombia is not for you, the morning did its job.
This is an adult seminar with no programming for children and no childcare.
The content is aimed at the person making the decision. If you are moving with a family, come and bring your questions, but please arrange care for the morning.
Yes, and you should.
Register separately so we have an accurate count against the fifteen seats.
No. The seminar runs in English.
Cra. 73 #Cir 3-20 in Laureles-Estadio.
Taxi or rideshare is easiest and the address works better than the name with most drivers.
Laureles is walkable and rideshares are cheap and plentiful.
We would not plan on driving.
Reply to your confirmation email as early as you can, so we can release your seat to somebody on the list.
Yes. That is the entire reason the room is capped at fifteen.
If your situation needs more than the room can give it, we will say so honestly and point you to a consultation rather than handing you half an answer.
